Change Is Good

Mike Shanahan had 10 years to get over the retirement of John Elway and did not much of anything positive with it. On top of that he had no business ever wearing the GM hat and many of Denver's woes over that stretch stem directly from the fact that his ego outweighed his ability to evaluate talent.

I'm not sorry to see him go, though I do hope that whoever replaces him has as much character.

I'm betting Marty Schottenheimer makes the short list of possible replacements and Bill Cowher has alredy said that he will not coach again next year. Joe Gibbs or Denny Green? Please not Mike Holmgren and thank you God that Norv Turner is not on the market.

I'm pulling for Marty. He'll coach, he'll do a great job, he'll keep his nose out of the GM's job.
